Furniture question Basel

Hi All

I am looking to buy some furniture- wardrobes, shoes cabinets, desk, chest of drawers and TV unit.

I am currently looking at Ikea and Pfister as options. Any other local places that you could recommend.

Are there any stores in Germany where we can order these from? Is there any advantage in terms of price or tax? What is the shipping fee like

Please pour in your suggestions.

Many thanks
Shilpa

Re: Furniture question Basel

The brockenstube often have some nice furniture. Hjob in Pratteln has a huge place.

You can buy in Germany - no recommendations I'm afraid - and they generally handle the shipping and duty etc. to Switzerland.

Hi Shilpa. IKEA is a good choice but does not hold well if you move houses....once installed, it should remain that way. You can get good furniture in CH but can be a bit expensive. Brockenstube is a good option not only per the price but also the quality and options. You can order from Germany and they often offer delivery and installation which is a good option. XXXL or Wohnpark Binzen are good options. You also have good options in Rheinfelden (Germany) as there are a couple of good stores.

Basel is practically home of Vitra, ok, the campus is on the other side of border in Germany, but still....
The only problem is, does your budget allows it, mine for sure not

Anything like Trachtner Möbel? I looked at their website, and there were no prices - then I saw the "special offers" section, which did have prices. If you have to ask, you can't afford it... No wonder they'll give you 1000CHF for your old one.

Got a great coffee table from Heilsarmee (he he, so close to Hell's Army in my mind), for 15 francs.

Lipo, Micasa (Migros), Conforama, Ottos (not all shops). Möbel Rösch if you want something nicer.
If you have a car, Ikea, Conforama and Pfister are almost next to each other in Pratteln Grüssen, drive a little farther and you've got an Otto's, Lipo, and something called Mömax.
