| | Wall Paint - colour mixing
We are looking to paint some walls of our (own) apartment. We found some nice colours from Farrow and Ball that we really like, but the prices are just insane to pain multiple rooms. To my understanding it is possible to get the exact colours mixed for you with cheaper paints, how would one go about this? I.e. where do I find the specifications of F&B paint that I can get mixed?
And where do I go to get these mixes?
TIA!

They will then scan that sample and use the scan to directly reproduce the desired colour in the paint type of your choice.
It really is as simple as that, yes.

I think the Migros brico-loisirs does this as well. And they have various qualities of paint as well.

| | | | | I heard an interesting talk about Farrow and Ball colours on the radio the other day.
Basically, their muted, earthy and natural hues which they supposedly took from heritage houses were actually those taken from the servants quarters.
The more stately rooms in these fine houses were painted in glorious, bright (and expensive colours), quite unlike those of Farrow and Ball.
The servants rooms were painted with what ever was left over, mixed together to get enough paint to cover the rooms.
Generally, if you mix most colours together, in the end you are going to get a brown or a dirty green or an off-white - and hey presto - you have a Farrow and Ball colour!

If you want to support a small business the Farbhof on Forchstrasse 37 near Kreuzplatz is fantastic.

What Ace1 said.
The first time I looked up the Farrow Ball brochure I brought it along to the paint guys who were contracted to paint my new built. He looked at it and laughed and said that he can get the same but much cheaper, in fact, no additional cost to what he was going to paint anyway.
The second time, I wanted to repaint my holiday apartment and the painter invited me to his workshop and programmed his machine and voila. When they started painting I realized that I didn't like one of the colours (too light), so back to the shop and he put the paint back into the machine, pressed a few buttons, and got the shade that I wanted. Easy, and didn't cost any more than normal paint.
Both painters thought it was fun mixing up paint because I was the very unusual guy who didn't want anything in the standard Swiss white.

It really is as simple as that, yes. | | | | | Coop BauHobby does it too. Anything your heart desires. Used them often.
