Wetzikon a good place?

Hi all, my family is considering purchasing property in Wetzikon (single house). The location seems great, close to Lake Pfäffikon, next to nice places like Juckerfarm and a lot of farmland around. However, those of you knowing the place, do you recommend it? Is there anything to know about this place that might impact property value in the next future? Thanks!

Re: Wetzikon a good place?

It‘s a nice area. I live not far away.

Check where the Oberland Autobahn will run, if they ever build it.

It‘s the Bible Belt, but folk are nice. They are building like it‘s going out of fashion...

Re: Wetzikon a good place?

Still some bargains to be had on housing in that area.

But do watch out for zoning laws. A friend of mine bought a house in an area with all one to two storey houses, built circa 1940s and all set on large plots with lots of greenery.

A couple of years ago the area was re-zoned for high density housing and 8-storeys are now permitted.

Nothing has happened yet but the neighbours are all angry as they are afraid of such blocks being built all around them and they will lose the privacy of their gardens etc. Sooner or later it's bound to happen as the houses are all quite old and small and not really of top quality and when any come up for sale an investor could easily outbid an individual buyer.
