Apartment for musicians

Hello all,
I am a pianist and I'm in an unpleasant situation. I moved in an a refurbished building. I specifically asked the company if there was enough sound-proofing for a piano, they said, yes, I moved in, and now neighbors are complaining. There is litterally no sound-proofing. The sound is very loud downstairs of the piano, and I understand that they don't want that. Anyway, I'm moving out.
Yo have any tips, keywords, known places, where I could move in, in Zurich, where it is possible to have good enough sound-proofing? I want to make sure I don't have to move out again.
Thanks,
Guillaume

Re: Apartment for musicians

I will be of no help (I live in Basel), but I want to say that my neighbor in the building behind me is a pianist and I love it when she practices. She's good, so it is pleasant to listen to the classical music waft across the space between us when the windows are open.

Just so you know that not everyone complains about music practice

Re: Apartment for musicians

I would suggest a ground floor apartment for a piano. For sound-proofing well... maybe a new building outside of the city center

Do you live near Holbeinplatz? Hearing someone play properly from a distance is different to living beside/underneath/above it.

What they mean when they say that you can play a piano is that the neighbours will have to suffer it because playing classical music is considered a wonderful thing no matter how loud and how many people it disturbs and annoys.

We have a pianist on the 1st floor and when they play I need to turn my TV up, on the 4th floor. It's the same tune every time. In the summer when the windows are open you can hear it all the way down the street. The nearer neighbours are completely pissed off but it's up to them to move out rather than the one causing the disturbance.

I applaud the OP for being considerate of his/her neighbours. There will likely be no apartment house where you won't disturb somebody. Maybe plan on building a room in a room in a room piano studio.

Re: Apartment for musicians

I suggest you search for a room which are normally in the cellar, called
Hobbyraum, where people can do for example crafts as their hobby, so nobody can complain about the noises coming from that room.

Couldn’t you use a high quality electronic piano and headphones, like a Yamaha for example?
