Awww. Did I give you toilet envy? Thanks. No, I haven't fixed it yet. I'm still waiting in the hope that I'll hear from the Hauswart soon. If that doesn't happen, then I'll follow Tom1234's awesome instructions below.
Absolutely! Us common people with the vertical version have to work blind and hurt our hands in the process.
Actually that's probably why we get no pictures, they would be useless anyway.

Come on. Admit it. You just want to see more of my toilet.

(It's a welcome break from designing multiple possible staircases to replace a spiral staircase.)

It's such a lovely thread. It deserves the climax of you fixing it yourself, discovering a love of plumbing, and living life thereafter in peace (and plumbing) happiness.

I think everyone knows that awful, unsettling feeling of waiting for something to be fixed with a time pressure, as we're going to be away from home for a bit. It feels to me like people could really relate to that in your posts, and really wanted to help you as much as possible.

Ha haaa. I really do appreciate all of the help and advice here.

I still feel nervous about meddling with it, though. I think I may even finally be starting to kind of enjoy the sound of it. Gurgling... Bubbling. It's like being out in nature, next to a soothing stream.

If you can be bothered, make us a video, so we can have a listen, too. It may help those who are advising you on what to do. Can you hear it from other rooms? Is it loud?

No, it's not that loud. I can't hear it if I have the bathroom door shut.

But maybe I should record it and market it as one of those soothing nature sounds recordings for people to fall asleep to.

Gurgling....bubbling.....next to a soothing stream. Descriptive enough if you ask me.

Give this a listen if you are so inclined. Listen to the whole thing (don't skip any parts) and report back if you still can't imagine it.

What's that little doohickey under the toilet paper roll? Have you tried turning that to see if it shuts off the water?

I think that doohickey ( ) is just the water for the clothes washing machine that is located next to the toilet, because the hose that comes out of it goes into that.

Thanks. I wasn't able to access the video for some reason (it keeps saying that an error occurred. This just isn't my day!). But I'll see if I can find some other similar videos.

This is a photo of my toilet. lol.

I'll try again to see if I can get that flush button panel off.

Thanks for everyone's help and suggestions here!
That is a mighty fine toilet, if I ever saw one. Question, why is there a blue towel right next to it?

Because the sink is on the towel's left? Or it's a bum-cleaning toilet without the drying?
The things you ponder

edit: Ah, got your point now.

I'd be much more interested in whether Pankcakes finally fixed it after all the effort we put in here all day?! Or is she still waiting for the care-taker who will then tell her, he'll call the plumber?!?

Hey, I had to ask. I just found it odd to have a towel right next to the toilet, is all.

Ha haa. The sink is to the left of the toilet, so I guess that's why the towel-hanging hook is right there. No, I do not wipe my bum with it.

Not yet.

I just read the subject line of my post and it's kind of funny. Leave it to me to have a toilet emergency on the EF.

Just out of curiosity. Don't you find the sink a tad bit too close? I mean sure, you could sit on the toilet and brush you teeth...but still, doesn't it make you feel cramped?

Naaa. I guess I'm use to it by now. But yes, in fact I can sit on the toilet and brush my teeth. I'm a multi-tasker.

In fact, I'm sitting on the toilet as I type this.

Just kidding.
