Also maybe take a look in any second hand shops in your area (Brockenhaus), you can get some real bargains. I found high back dining chairs in one for 25f each, balcony chairs with the cushions for 5f each (they just needed a clean up with Cif and the cushions washed), also a small balcony table for 5f that was a bit dinked on top but fine with a nice tablecloth. I've bought a few nice ornaments, glass pieces and a lovely framed poster quite reasonably.

Re: Cheap furniture's like ikea

I have a nice white ladder shelf for books in my bedroom that was from Jysk. Sadly both Jysk and Confodeco in Kleinbasel closed a few years ago, I got some bargains in both including a vacuum cleaner for 59f, still going strong after 5 years.

I bought an antique writing desk once for 20CHF that I cleaned up and sold for 250 CHF.

Re: Cheap furniture's like ikea

Worth Googling (for instance) "dining table" and use the "Shopping" tab underneath the Google search field to get a pretty good idea of what's available at different price points. As long as you're not using a VPN it's pretty good at presenting options in your geographical area. It's a good idea to try the German translation too.

In addition to second-hand shops (called "Brockenhaus" in German), which I'd also recommend, there are also small ad sites: www.tutti.ch, www.anibis.ch.

Ah, no. It is never better to use google. And that feature, of which you speak, is there to track you. Use another search engine that doesn’t track you. Duck Duck Go for example.

On the (off-)topic of vacuum cleaners and other appliances, check if you have a Landi nearby.

I've had some Ikea bookcases for more than twenty years and mulitiple house moves and they're still okay and in use.

Cheap does not need to mean disposable.

For the ones living in the La Côte area, there is an excellent Salvation Army store in Nyon.
A true treasure chest for finding original items!

Also for donating items one doesnt use anymore, that are to good to just throw away

I'm a big fan of the Salvation Army place in Zürich. There is a lot of really good stuff there, but it can also be hit and miss as the good stuff tends to sell quickly, so if you're hunting for something you need to come often.
