Emergency accommodation wanted (mould problem)

I moved into a flat a few months ago which turned out to have a serious mould problem. It is triggering a serious allergy and destroying my furniture, clothing etc. I don't think it will be that easy to sort out because I'm a subtenant and the previous tenant whom I asked for advice admitted that this has been a longstanding problem, but it obviously got a lot worse very recently. I'm doing everything one is supposed to do (ventilating, vigorously cleaning etc.) and it's not helping. I'm going to the Mieterverband/Asloca tomorrow to discuss the situation from a legal point of view, but I'm not holding my breath.

At this point, my priority is to move out from here as soon as humanly possible. I already started searching the property sites for immediately available properties and scheduling viewings, but I feel like it could be at least a month by the time I find something via this route. Does anyone have an idea where to look for emergency accommodation? Airbnb etc. is a bit difficult because I need to bring/store my furniture as well...

Many thanks in advance for any helpful ideas!

Re: Emergency accommodation wanted (mould problem)

Oh, very frustrating! Please take care: if your furniture is beset by mould, you might have to have a good look at whether you can clean it and treat it properly. If not, there is no point in taking it along, as it will be a bus with which you transport the mould into the new place. Sorry.

Re: Emergency accommodation wanted (mould problem)

If its really urgent I suggest using Airbnb, long term hotel, 'residence ' in France, or short term apartment.

The furniture is easily dealt with in a number of ways-- I think nearly all moving firms offer short term storage, use self-storage like zebra box and the like, ask friends to let you use their 'cave'.

One of your other priorities is to make sure that your sub-let is legally contracted. The Rental liability is with the original tenant that holds the rental agreement, and they can be held liable for substantial structural damage due to negligence in the use of the property as a result of bad airing, not reporting it to the landlord etc. etc. etc.
