Referendum Poster In Entrance Lobby - From Owner

In the entrance lobby of our apartment building, the letting agency has pasted a poster with their company letterhead against the Covid proposal in the upcoming referendum.

I find this particular poster a bit of an imposition given tenants are forbidden to hang such posters from their window / balcony per the house rules.

I did some googling for what the law says etc - but mostly the results are directed at the rights of tenants to hang political posters.

I suspect there is not much I can do about this - but wonder if the EF panel of armchair experts has any useful info.

Cheers,
Nick

Re: Referendum Poster In Entrance Lobby - From Owner

I don't have any expert opinion or ideas about if you could complain etc but it would be great if you pasted over the top of it a Yes poster!!! I wonder what the reaction would be?!?! Myself, I'd never be brave enough to do it, I'm sure someone would see me, report me and I'd get in all sorts of trouble!

No idea about the actual rules/Law on this- but I would be truly annoyed. Are there cameras around? I'd be tempted to ...

It's not really worth a thread but let me respond as I'm waiting for my food and have nothing better to do.

You could remove it.
Or half of it.
Or improve it with some small amendments.

Annoying though it certainly would be, to me, too, to have political posters in one's home entrance lobby, I think defacing or removing it in any way is quite a high risk to take, especially given that it'll be gone in a fortnight,.

Re: Referendum Poster In Entrance Lobby - From Owner

Does the agency own the building? Or just manage it? Then maybe complain to the owner/s.

I thought that the only things allowed to be posted in the entranceway are notices with information to the tenants. In other words, no advertising, or posters. Of course someone could just put a "Ja" poster next to it.

Yes THIS.

Just make sure that there are no video cameras around. But this is strictly regulated, and the vermieter will not under normal circumstances be allowed to do this:

Don‘t tell anyone that I told you so.

(Also a bit in there about tyre slashing btw).

Having the poster there will not affect the outcome of the referendum, nor would you defacing or removing it. Just ignore it. What's important is that you cast your vote.

Re: Referendum Poster In Entrance Lobby - From Owner

Forgive my laziness, as I could probably find the answer with a spot of Googling but is it only full Swiss citizens who can vote in a referendum? It's not something that's particularly bothered me in the past but with public health issues like this I wish I had a voice. (I'm a C Permit holder who's lived here for 12 years or so.) Thank you.

Yup. Have already voted. But on with how this thread is developing anyways I suppose (the topic was whether a landlord was allowed to post his own political stuff in the entrance of his apartments in Switzerland as far as I remember).

But guess that everyone has their own idea of reality. Anyway, done and dusted on my bit.

To my mind, that bit tells you all you need to know. They're laying some kind of 'ownership' to that view and the poster, so no way would I risk defacing or removing it.

Do you know the building owner and if so, do you suspect the agent has the owner's permission or agreement? At the end of the day, it's a point of view and they can't force you to vote in a certain way. It's very bad taste being within the property and I'm pretty sure your lease will have rules regarding such things being in the communal areas.

A large poster with the same view was posted about 2 weeks ago near our home, within sight of the entrance of a couple of businesses. Every night last week, it was ripped down and left destroyed in the street. At the weekend, the poster was replaced and put under glass this time. I suspect the more the poster was damaged, the more the people who put it up were getting their knickers in a twist, which causes high blood pressure, which can bring on a heart attack, etc.... Stuff them!
