Paint bubbling on bathroom wall

We have a strangely designed bathroom where one of the walls of a shower stall is a painted drywall. And as expected the paint is starting to bubble in some spots because, no matter what, the wall does get wet.
Painters are saying there is no guarantee that it will not happen again.
Do any of the wise DIY folks here have a solution to offer? E.g. is there some waterproofing spray available that one can use on a painted surface?

Yes, put some tiles on it.

You can paint it but you'd need to strip the old flaky paint off and use a latex-based or resin-based paint like this:

Resin paint

But not the exact one in the link as that's black!

This would indeed be the most effective and long lasting solution and what I would do if I owned the property.
If renting they could ask the landlords if they would agree to tiling it.

Re: Paint bubbling on bathroom wall

Thanks, all. Landlord doesn't want to tile the wall so I guess I have to be prepared for periodic repainting.
