Warm water bill-apartment Zurich.

I live in a big apartment block( 100 apartments). Last year we paid 150CHF for the years hot water. Now for this year its jumped to 850CHF. Is there any way to get these calculations checked or verified. I cant see why the increase as I have not changed my consume habits over the past year.

Don‘t you get a specification of what was used? Your landlord has to provide that.

Re: Warm water bill-apartment Zurich.

You can request access to the invoices that were issued in order to create the bill.

They won't be sent to you but rather you have to go to the rental company to view them.

It sounds like they may have booked one or two invoices in the wrong period for such an increase to occur. Hard to say without knowing all the facts.

Ask your neighbours if they had the same increase.

Are you saying they can provide a list of the costs according to whether its bath water, heating appliances ( it uses hot water),dishwasher etc or is it just a generalized bill?

No, but the amount of water and electricity used.

The hot water yes. I really don't understand too much how they work out the final costs. I live in a very large apartment complex with 100 other apartments.
Considering it had cost 150CHF in the last bill and now it's 850 CHF. And I don't have the feeling that I used more hot water.

How can you measure only hot water? The meter in my apartment just shows the use of water, hot and cold.

Well I am not 100% sure about what is measured but I know that they come and do readings every year (the meter is not in the apartment).

Re: Warm water bill-apartment Zurich.

Why don‘t you go and check what the readings are on your meter and compare the use against last years? Maybe they allocated an incorrect amount to you.

Unfortunately these meters are in a locked cupboard so not possible to access.

Our hot water heating elements all have some sort of measuring device attached that sends the numbers automatically to the reading meters.

Re: Warm water bill-apartment Zurich.

It could be a leak... or it could be that they are asking for huge accounts to cover the winter expenses and then in reality the bill will be lower leading to a refund...

I guess we will have to contact the landlord if we need to clarify this bill.

I'm not 100% sure about that, even if it's an older building. That has to be a huge leak in order to increase the cost from 150 to 850 CHF. And that leaked water has to go somewhere...

Tom
Either you're privileged in Ticino or the full whack hasn't been passed on yet. HEV say 50% in the last 12 months, energy360 (a major supplier) say market price up around 200% since last September (end consumer price currently nearer 100%)

But still not 600%.
