Can I rent out my house while working abroad?

We own our own house in Switzerland and would like to find out it it is possible to rent out the house while I work in New Zealand for an extended period of time (12-24 months).
I think there may be a restriction that disallows us from living outside of Switzerland for more than 6 months with a C-permit, but I am worried that it may take much longer than this to sell the house. It would not be possible to keep up payments on the mortgage while living in New Zealand so I need to understand if I need to wait until after sale of house before looking at move.

If anyone has any information or can point me at a good advisor this would be much appreciated.
