| | How to find flats to rent in practice
Hi all -
I am moving to Schwyz in Pfaffikon (or other parts of the Hoffe district) in January. I have already visited Hoffe multiple times. I am a senior executive working for a software business.
I have checked websites like comparis.ch and can see a few properties. While I understand that there are not many properties around, do people recommend reaching out to real estate agencies locally?
Would also having a 1-pager profile in German plus references in German be useful to make my profile more credible?

Use a relocation agent if you want to find something quickly and conveniently. As a senior executive your company are likely to cover the costs of this.
Housing is in short supply recently. To rent you need to apply - complete the application form and other matters. The relocation agent will assis with this and do almost all the leg work for you.

Some people claim to check the customer notice boards in local Migros/Coop is worthwhile.

Hello, and welcome to the Forum and, soon, to Switzerland.
In practice, many landlords will not consider applicants who are still resident abroad. That just brings more paperwork and/or less certainty, for them, relative to applicants who are already resident in Switzerland.
Ideally, as recommended above, ask your employer to organise temporary accommodation for you, and/or a relocation agent. Failing that, try AirBnB (but first check whether or not this is acceptable to the immigration authorities as a resident address; it's different from canton to canton), or a short-er term rental, perhaps as a sub-let. Many single people, especially but not only if they are young, opt for a rented room in shared apartment, to start with.
In any case, once you have a first stable base, you'll be better equipped to face your search for your real, long-term rental, and be more attractive to a landlord as you'll already be resident in Switzerland.

January is not the typical month for a relocation here in switzerland.
The area you are interested in, is wellsought after ,because of the low taxes.
There are not many objects to move in , especially in the winter months.
Moneywise it will be very expensive, or you have to compromise on the location.

The choice is quite small therefore doing anything to increase your chances (like profile, references) is always a good idea. Have a look also at places around, a bit deeper into Canton Schwyz. There are also lovely places at the lakeside like Richterswil, Wädenswil, Horgen but they are also very popular.
