| | Re: Neighbor Filming Me on Private Land | Quote: | | | | | Nope:
That means that you have to consider your neighbours and play only at "Zimmerlautstärke" (room volume). | | | | | Unless you want to get fined and probably evicted after more escapades like this.

^^^ I'm not trying to take sides, but I'm sure it's easier for any of us to judge it that way when we were not the ones being harassed by her. I once lived next to a cranky old lady who had also lost her husband at some point and she was constantly trying to make my life hell, even complaining about me vacuuming at 7:00 in the evening and had also tried to tell me that I wasn't allowed to ever have visitors in my own apartment.
So the point is, just because someone may be miserable, that's not necessarily a justified excuse to try to make everyone else's lives miserable as well. But of course, as the saying goes: "Misery loves company."
Anyways, again, I'm not trying to take sides, but it's easy for us to judge this a certain way when we're judging it from a distance and when we are not the ones in that actual situation.
But above all else, maybe it's best if that conversation just comes to an end? | The following 4 users would like to thank Pancakes for this useful post:

Happy to help xx | | | | |
You are so funny.
You are absolutely right in your definition of illiteracy but what you are singularly unable to comprehend is that the poster in question didn’t demonstrate an inability to read, quite the opposite in fact. They read it perfectly well and responded to it which makes them far from being illiterate and thus you referring to them as such was incredibly rude.
Asking for clarification of a poorly worded, ambiguous post does not in any way make a poster illiterate.
You really should try to inform yourself better before making ridiculous statements.

But above all else, maybe it's best if that conversation just comes to an end? | | | | | I made that point earlier though. Nobody else's lives were made miserable other than the cranky lady who had harassed not only me but other neighbours and the police as they informed me. SInce the way the building was designed meant nobody else heard anything. It was the least she deserved. She made it personal by fabricating allegations which threatened my career and right to reside in Switzerland. That's not a minor thing to me.
Whilst I appreciate some people here are submissive to allowing other's to try and destroy their lives and think it should be given a pass because loud music is a terrible sin by comparison, not everyone in life is such a walkover and stand up for themselves.
But yeah, would appear the conversation has run its course. I only offered my story in relation to the OPs situation. I can't control the holier than thou mob's desire to doubt, call me names, make it personal and get all triggered when I dish it back to them in kind.

I wonder if the little old lady had some cranky Brit living next to her who continually pissed her off by playing loud music and being obnoxious ? | This user would like to thank Biro for this useful post:

I know exactly what the word means and certainly didn’t learn it from you since you clearly don’t know what it means and persist in using it erroneously.
It amuses me when people just dig themselves further and further into a hole rather than admitting to a simple error.

| | | | | Exactly. He was unnecessarily rude about another member and used a word erroneously in doing so but he won’t admit to that and just keeps repeating himself in the hope that in doing so it will prove him right. Newsflash, it won’t.
As a native English speaker who has been teaching English for close to 25 years I could have told him how to construct his post better in order to avoid ambiguity and confusion but I won’t waste my time on somebody who clearly doesn’t want to learn.

I'm sure in reality they're perfectly decent people. Online persona and reality are not always the same! | | | | | I agree. And I also agree that he had made some nasty comments here earlier.
I guess my point was that it's easy for us to judge this with rational, calm (and objective) minds when we weren't the ones being pushed to the edge by that woman. But my perspective on it might be a bit skewed by the fact that I've been dealing with somewhat similar behavior by my own elderly, mentally ill father, and it's really been pushing me over the edge and causing me a lot of stress lately. So my tolerance for that kind of behavior is at all-time low right now, and I don't think that someone being mentally ill justifies them being an ***hole or gives them the right to be one.
So while I don't think JBZ86 should have tried to rub it in her face by playing the loud music to intentionally annoy her; at the same time, I can understand if he had felt pushed to the edge by her and was feeling elated when he won in court.
And at the end of the day... I'm not entirely sure that the universe really cares what any of us think anyways. It seems like this argument's been going on for quite a while now, but what's done is done and nothing can change that. And I don't think anyone here really has the power to change JBZ86's perspective on it.
