Storage areas close to Zurich/Thalwil/Ruschlikon/Horgen

Can anybody recommend any good storage areas in these areas? How much do they usually cost and which ones are best? Looking for something very safe for clothes, bikes and other personal belongings, no furniture but a place where one can come and go to pick up staff as and when needed.

Hi Flower
try these:

I haven't used them - used to get their flyers in my mailbox.

I have used ministorage to store my items for almost 4 months...rates were very reasonable and above anything, they were very friendly.

Hi, I have a storage room that I've rented in Zurich Seebach for CHF 450 a month. Will be giving it up as we're leaving the area. PM me if you'd like any more details.

Re: Storage places in Zurich

I used ministorage last year. The staff were friendly and at least one guy there spoke English (hopefully he is still there). I would recommend them.

Just in case -- I have no connections with them etc just had a furnished place for a couple of months when I moved here and had to store my furniture somewhere.

I have used

I am actually emptying my space today. No problem at all, it s well organized and convenient. They were even willing to do a contract of 5 weeks while they normally only do contracts in multiples of 4 weeks.

Storage in Zürich?

Hi,
I may need to put some of the contents of my apartment in storage in the Zürich area. Does anyone have any recommendations for good storage companies with reasonable rates?

Thanks!

Best storage deals in Zurich.

I am looking for a storage company that rents out storage space
for ca. 20-25 plastic boxes, for ca. 3 years.
The only one I know of is MyPlace (www.myplace.ch).
It also provides security and temperature regulation for all rooms.

Before deciding, I thought I would see if there were any other alternatives.
I am wondering if there are other companies which may have
more competitive prices for the similar offers as MyPlace.

All feedback is welcome.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Storage areas close to Zurich/Thalwil/Ruschlikon/Horgen

Flower, how about looking in the Gemeinde for some sort of "Hobbyraum" or "Bastelraum"? Generally these are small rooms located in the basement of apartment buildings which you can rent for 100-250.- CHF per month and where you can store whatever you want. They are also clean and dry, so maybe that would be something?

Re: Storage areas close to Zurich/Thalwil/Ruschlikon/Horgen

Yes, I compared the prices at SelfStorage (MyPlace), MiniStorage and Storage4you.
For 3 years, it is still cheaper at Storage4you.
For 6 years, it might be cheaper at SelfStorage than Storage4you or approx. the same (ignoring the deposit that will be returned at the end).
I haven't calculated for 6 years bec. none of the numbers are printed on SelfStorage's website (had to call them for the costs of my specific requirements),
but I guess so.
Reason:
There is an increasing reduction rate at Self-Storage while the reduction rate at Storage4you is at a constant 10%/year.
reduction rate = discount percentage per year

Also note:
For SelfStorage, you need to pay a deposit per year along with the rent.
For Storage4you, you only need to pay a small deposit of Fr.50 at the beginning even if you are renting many years.
Of course in both cases the deposit will be returned to you, but for SelfStorage you should also include the yearly deposit into your budget not only the rent.
