If you made the claim that is was not working when you moved in,
officially, black on white (I do not mean racist) on paper and submitted it
to your landlord... it should be their responsibility to get it fixed (Since it
is an item attached to the apartment).
That will probably be your responsibility to prove that it was never fixed.
Did you complain to the landlord? Did you mention now and then that
the stove was not yet fixed? Put yourself in their shoes, what would
you do?

My suggestion, don't try to fix. Simply replace. Get the model number
off the fridge, take it to Fust and order a replacement. It'll show your
initiative and that you are making an effort.

When you moved in, you completed an inspection with the landlord. You
usually have 30 days to make any other written statements to the
condition of the apartment and appliances. If you failed to note any
shortcomings, then it is your responsibility to see that they are clean
and absolutely in top working and visual condition. If you completed the
forms and lists, noted every scratch and stain... then good for you. As
long as the appliance or state of cleanliness is the same (
the amount of
time you rented is considered and some wear & tear is allowed) there
should be no problem.
If you trashed the place, leave a mess and broken appliances behind.
Then expect NOT to receive your deposit returned with a friendly smile!
