Refuse Bags for Richterswil-Horgen?

Hi forum-ers,

I have recently moved into an apartment in Ritcherswil and the Gemeinte gave me a sample of the refuse bags I am supposed to use. It seems to be a common bag for Richterswil - Horgan area which is a grey colour with green letters.

Anyone know where I am supposed to get them from? The local Migros and Co-op don't stock them and the rubbish is stacking up! Do I have to buy them from the Gemiente?

Did you ask at the Migros/Coop? They do not have them on the shelves but at the cashier (as they are expensive). It has been some time since I lived in Horgen, but that´s the same all over Switzerland.

Thanks, as recent as yesterday I could not find those grey / green 35L Gebührensack bags at either Migros / Coop. I'll try at the cashiers tomorrow.

Erdgas bags?

Erdgas is natural gas! I thought we talk about the "official trash bags" like the blue and white ones in Zürich... I remember the ones in Horgen to be greyish...

No I did not ask as I assumed they would be on the shelf with all the others and also would not know what they are called in German. Thanks for this I will look them up on the Leo dictionary.

That's the funny thing. The grey trash bags that my neighbours ( Wadenswil ) use have the words ERDGAS in green. And there is an ERDGAS office with refuse collection and recycling about 100m away from my place. I'll double check

I am afraid that you will not find it on Leo: "offizielle Abfallsäcke" always worked for me... I am German and am not sure what they are really called, it is a very Swiss thing, probably "Gemeindesäcke".

Re: Refuse Bags for Richterswil-Horgan?

Sounds reasonable to me. I am aware that part of the cost of the removal are priced into the bags so consequently represents a local tax. I guess you 'pay as you go' - however I an going to get one of those Keine Reklame Bitte signs as it seems a lot of my rubbish are leaflets.

Yes, the taxed bags are not on the shelves. You have to ask for them at the cashier.

Same here in Zürich.

Re: Refuse Bags for Richterswil-Horgan?

I took a picture of the 17L version that was near my street - says Gebührensack ( not Erdgas, but apparently the Erdgas guys do the collection in my area ).

Re: Refuse Bags for Richterswil-Horgan?

Hi, I live in Richterswil as well and if you go to the Coop up on the highway (but any other one will do as well-also Migros) you need to go straight ahead (not enter the actuall shop via the vegetables and fruits) and go the the counter of the flowers and magazines you can ask for Afballsäcke 35l or 17l. These items are sold there and not at the normal checkout where you pay for your groceries.
Hope this helps

Re: Refuse Bags for Richterswil-Horgan?

The official rubbish sacks are kept behind the counter as they're a hot target for shoplifters from what I was told.

Re: Refuse Bags for Richterswil-Horgan?

In my area( Nord Vaudois) they have introduced these taxable bags from 1 Jan 09. I wondered why they were kept at the till. 35lL bags - 10 for 19.95 - no wonder....

Can't speak for that side of the lake, but in Zürioberland, you can use any bag, but you must put special yellow stickers, also available from the supermarket.

We pay the same amount (CHF 2.50) for each sticker as the price
for a 35 liter garbage bag.

To add to that, they are perforated and can be halved and put on 17 Litre bags.
Oh, and they are called Gebührenmarke. You can get them at Gemeinde too.
http://www.zh.ch/portal/de/portalhom...enmarke&sort=5 A good starting point for canton Zürich.

I assume these stickers can only be obtained from the cashiers. What would be the German word for these stickers ? Thanks a bunch.

Re: Refuse Bags for Richterswil-Horgan?

"Kerichtmarken" für 17 Liter, 35 liter, 60 Liter, depending on bag size.
You can buy these at the checkout, singly, or a whole strip " e ganze Bogen".

Round here, a whole strip of rubbish stickers costs approx. SFr. 25 for 35 Liter bags (medium-sized)

Hope this helps.
