Any restriction on the size of apartment depending on persons residing?

I am from a non-EU country and currently working (& residing) in Giubiasco (Ticino cantone) since 18 months. I am getting the dependent visas processed for my wife and my kid(1 year). Once they come down here, I would like to move to another apartment.

Just wanted to know, whether there is any restriction on the size of the apartment to be taken depending on my family size. Will it be okay if I take a 2-1/2 apartment (for 2 adults + 1 kid)? Will this restricition be from the apartment management or could it be from the cantone authorities as well?

A link to an official site (if at all is there) in this regard would be of great help.

Thanks a lot.
