Housing disaster

Place I was going to move to fell through (don't ask!) so need to find a place to start in 2 weeks.

As this will be temporary, I don't mind condition so much and may be taking a place sight unseen.

I was wondering if there is a general minimum contract term since I hope to move into something more permanent after, say, 3 months of house hunting.

Also, what can I do to minimise problems regarding extortionate 'cleaning charges' after leaving - which based on some other posts here could well double my rent if it is short!

Re: Housing disaster

Take a serviced apartment? More expensive rent, but already furnished. Also short notice periods.

Some cheaper hotels can also do a deal for a month stay.

Re: Housing disaster

IM - are you looking for somewhere in Schaffhausen (your location)? An ex-colleague of mine stayed at the Zunfthaus zum Ruden while apartment hunting in SH.

She had a b&b type arrangement with them. I think she had a one room apartment.

Re: Housing disaster

Thanks all. Luckily a friend of mine got a place sorted out and I'm going to kip on his sofa for a few days until I get something sorted out.

Why don't the Swiss build more houses??
