Any opinions about living near ETH Honngeberg? (On Bus 69 line)

Looked at an apartment that I loved in the ETH-Honng. area, but unlike where we're living right now, there is no nearby grocer to walk to, and it really takes one change of bus/tram to go to and from the city. Wouldn't normally be considering this property (I'd like to be closer to city center in Zurich), but we're going to have a kid soon so I imagine being home much more, we've got a dog and there is a lot of green nearby, and work is really close to there. The transportation issue is also somewhat about visiting older relatives and wanting to keep transportation to downtown simple for the newbies.

Any opinions on the food and other basics shopping (and restaurants) nearby? It is the 8049 postcode area. Looks like there are a bunch of shops/businesses north of the ETH campus. Anyone have experience living in that area?

Thanks.

You can live in either Maierhofplatz ( Hönng) or near affoltern Bhf and will arrive to ETH Höngg campus in around 5 min. You will need to take either 80 or 37 bus numbers. Both these places offer ample shopping etc. oppurtunities but housing should be surely cheaper in affoltern than its in Höngg.
The line 69 coming into ETH is in my opinion not passing through the best residential parts.

Hope that helps.
