Thanks, I won't have a salary slip yet, as I don't get that until the end of August, but have my contract which outlines my salary. Hopefully that'll do!

Should be fine - we got our apartment on the basis of an offer letter stating salary details. I know it's not very fair, but it helps if you're EU, then the landlord knows you're a shoe-in for a permit.

I would apply for a betreibungsauszug and enclose a copy of it in each application as well as a cover letter explaining why you might be the ideal tenant.

This document ( betreibungsauszug ) is obtainable on the spot from your Gemeinde ( if in Affoltern am Albis, it is here - credit checks register Tel 044 762 56 56 • info [at] affoltern-am-albis.ch ) for a small fee ( usually about CHF17/- ) and valid for up to 3 months ( required even if you were in the country for a few days ). Expect to reapply and pay again once 3 months are up if you were not successful in obtaining tenancy.
