And then the woman says "You owe us 235 francs". No-one had told us we had to pay for this second delivery, so 'someone' had to try his hardest to run to a hole-in-the-wall to get the cash.
...
Ha ha! You were had - the second delivery folks probably dumped everything on the pavement (when they saw you were on the 4th floor) and the other two took advantage and posed as furniture removals before fleecing you for 235 CHF.

Re: Transport furniture from IKEA

I hear what you are saying, and that is exactly what I would like to avoid, those unwanted waiting and money surprises. But I did not buy from IKEA I bought from Conforama, Fly meubles and Pfister, I am looking for someone (a Company or Individual) with a delivery vehicle to assist me with picking up the stuff from these stores and dropping it off at my apartment, and I am willing to pay for the service.

Re: Transport furniture from IKEA

I went a couple of weeks ago to IKEA to have a look and get info because I am moving into a new flat in 3 weeks with no furniture at all. They told me delivery can take around 2-3 weeks. So, as soon as I signed the contract of the new flat I went to Ikea dietikon and bought all the stuff. After long in customer services (the man did not speak english) I manage to pay all in many bits and arrange everything. He only told me the delivery people will call me to fix a date. I need the furniture the 1st day I move into the flat!!!! But so far they did not call.
-Anyone knows the name of the delivery company? Maybe I should call them and see it.
-You know how long they take to call between you buy and they call?
Thanks

Re: Transport furniture from IKEA

I ordered furniture online from IKEA last month. It took about 8-9 days till they called me to make the appointment for delivery. Exactly 2 weeks after the order went in I've got the furniture.

I think the delivery company was Planzer (sp?).

Lucky you !! We ordered furniture, actually went to the store to do so, as to be sure that everything was in stock.... and the order took weeks to arrive. Nevertheless IKEA was very considerate about it all and Planzer delivered on a Saturday morning, which made my life much easier.

I went to Ikea Dietlikon (did you mean that, or is there also one in Dietikon?) yesterday and they were able to deliver it the same day. However, due to some paperwork confusion they didn't bring the item that was in the warehouse - only what I brought over on handcarts. So they are coming back tomorrow with the rest. I also think that they managed to charge me less than what the formula says for delivery - perhaps also due to said paperwork error, so in spite of having to run home in the middle of the day tomorrow I am satisfied overall with the result.

Part of the paperwork error I think was because of a new system and possibly a new company doing deliveries. So perhaps things are getting better. In any case, it doesn't always go poorly, and each person's experience is different. Good luck!

And yes, Dietikon, more exactly Spreitenbach.

Waiting for weeks sucks. I choose to order online because my french isn`t good and I wanted to avoid confusions. The delivery note said that the packages came from IKEA Spreitenbach. Aubonne would have been closer.

Hi all,

If it helps, I ordered a massive amount of furniture from IKEA today, and they are delivering tomorrow. This is not just "luck" - it is their express service which costs 10% of the purchase price (minimunm CHF 95). The public transport discount is not valid for this service.

Cheers

This service is not available for my location. Olten is out of that service area And I still have to pay the 10%.

Re: Transport furniture from IKEA

Uh oh. I ordered some furniture online yesterday for delivery, didn't think to look here first, assumed it'd be the same as in the UK, and didn't get an express delivery option (or at least, I don't think I did...). Got a confirmation, then got another one tonight saying earliest "Lieferwoche" 11, which by my calculation means the week of 14th March? Great, a month off and am planning to be away that week. I'll give them a call tomorrow, but in the meantime, in case I don't get an English speaker on the phone, can anyone tell me what this means:

"Anhängend erhalten Sie Ihre IKEA Auftragsbestätigung. Bitte kontrollieren Sie
Ihre Artikelliste sowie Zahlungskonditionen und eventuelle Liefertermine."

I can translate the words, but don't really understand what it actually means (or am I being dim?). Ta in advance.

Thank you, I translated literally in my head and was wondering how to "control" delivery date - week 11 was a bit vague. OK, I was being dim

Re: Transport furniture from IKEA

Why is everyone so hung-up on IKEA? There are many other stores available and if you compare the prices and shop around you would be surprised IKEA is not always the most affordable as I found out and all of them have a delivery option. Don't get me wrong I have no "Bad" story regarding IKEA at all.

I live in Luzern and here is no IKEA, so I started shopping around here are some other stores, to check it out yourself follow this link:

http://geneva.angloinfo.com/countries/switzerland/hwshop.asp
  • Conforama: Chain of furniture stores with 13 stores in Switzerland. For furniture and home accessories. Goods include kitchens and bathrooms, beds and bedding, tables, chairs, cupboards and office furniture, also appliances (fridges, stoves, washing machines and dryers and so on) and audio visual goods (TVs, DVD players and sound systems)
  • Fly: Inexpensive "fashionable" furniture and home accessories. Goods include beds and free standing cupboards, outdoor furniture, soft furnishings and bathroom and kitchen detail accessories
  • Ikea: Swedish-owned furniture shop for all home and home office furniture, soft furnishings, home accessories, flooring, crockery and children's toys
  • Interio: Modern design furniture and home accessories
  • Pfister Meubles: Chain of furniture stores with a wide selection of furniture for the office, children's bedrooms, dining rooms, lounges as well as soft furnishings and accessories for the home: bed linen, table linen, rugs, curtains and lighting
  • Roche Bobois: Designer furniture for bedrooms, dining rooms and living rooms. Also soft furnishings (curtains, cushions)
  • Fust: Over 140 shops in Switzerland for cookers, washing machines, dryers, televisions, refrigerators, freezers and vacuum cleaners

Yes, I look at most of that stores, and some others (micasa). For a single thing not a lot of diference in price but when buying all the house YES. In Ikea you save money.

Re: Transport furniture from IKEA

9 days since I bought the furniture, 1 week for my desire date of dellivery and still not been contacted/called.
The only info I can find in my papers said: "Frühste Lieferwoche: 8", and in other place said: "Neuer voraussichtlicher Liefertermin in KW 07-2011".
What can I do? I really need the furniture next friday if not I will need to sleep in the cold floor

Re: Transport furniture from IKEA

We just had a great experience from Ikea. We joined the 'family card' and we got 50% off van rental. We hired the first van for 3 1/2 hrs and were charged 45 chf (3 hrs = 90chf then 1/2 price). 2 days later we hired another van for just under 4 hrs and were charged 62.50 chf (4 hrs = 125 chf then 1/2 price). Brilliant price and we were also able to use it to go to Media Markt etc... too on the way home .

P.S They also take all the rubbish, cardboard etc... back which you can put in their skips for free - exciting times!
