Housing in Lugano

Hey guys,

My name is Vlad, I will do my master in USI, and I am looking for a single room or 1.5 apartment, to rent in Lugano.

My budget is between 400 and 650 CHF for housing per month.

I am getting quite desperete as I will have to be in Lugano next week - 4th and I still do not have housing.

I have talked to some people over the phone and mail, but they seem to pay no attention, if you are not on place, there, which I can not do.

I will appreciate your help.

My Best Regards,
Vlad

Re: Housing in Lugano

Have you tried this place for temporary accommodation? They offer basic furnished apartmemts short term and it would get you started in Lugano until you find a more permanent solution.

I know people who have stayed here and it's quite all right plus not far from the train and the bus is also nearby.

Hi Vlad and welcome to the forum.

Let us know if you manage to fulfill your dream. I honestly think that your budget won't allow it. I however wonder what other EFers that live in the Ticino have to say about.

Re: Housing in Lugano

Thank you for the help.

I was hoping to hear from current students who are looking for a roommate.

Regards,

Vlad

Re: Housing in Lugano

Hi Vlad,

try looking in Extra (magazine from Corriere del Ticino), it came out yesterday. I've seen a couple of cheap places in Lugano but don't seem to be able to upload them (the file is too large), so if you go to a café, central library or other the paper version should be around. Good luck!

Re: Housing in Lugano

Hello

I am also future student at USI.

I arrived in Lugano late on thursday, and I am staying at Via Montarina Hostel.
It is 26CHF per night.

Along with me, there is also 2 more USI student who are also looking for a room.

Today I went to USI with one of them, and at campus, we found 2 more people who are looking for a room.

So yeah, all of us thought it would be easier to get a room now that we have 5 people.

But no, we went to 3 real estate agencies, and didnt get anything today.
and we also looked at "search and find" and the "extra", but couldnt find anything suitable (nearby to uni, and not too expensive ard 6-7-800, and immediate movein)

Each of us has already done quite extensive internet search for accommodation even before we get to Lugano.

Every where I ask (the uni staff), they said it is really hard to get a room.

We will keep on searching for a room. But in the meantime, this Via Montarina hostel is pretty good, it is 2minute walk from the train station.

If you PM me your email address, I will let you know if we got anything.
