Does submitting the form to Regie constitute any obligation?

Me and my husband need to find an apartment in Geneva a.s.a.p. We know it is not easy so we are planning to visit as many as possible option as possible. But I was wondering, if we are interested in more than one place we visit, can we submit application to more than one Regie simutaneously (so to increase my chance of finding something quick)? Will that form any kind of obligation? Will I be in trouble if they actually offer the flat to me but I said no then?

Thank you.

I think some agencies try to charge a fee to process the form, but I don't think there's any obligation on your part.

I applied for 4 places at the same time before settling on the last flat I looked at.

Re: Does submitting the form to Regie constitute any obligation?

Several agencies that are based in Lausanne have a stipulation that if you apply for an apartment, and are lucky enough to be awarded it, if you then decide not to take it then they will charge you a fee (about 50 to 100 CHF). However, a lot of agencies don't have this fee, and some who do state it in the application documentation then don't charge it when the situation arises.

If you want a place quickly, then the only way to do it is to apply for multiple places. If you happen to get more than one and you are charged a fee for the one that you turn down, you should still be happy to have found a place and shouldn't worry too much about the fee. Unfortunately, there is little you can do to complain about this - the agencies have ALL of the power in this situation and the applicants have virtually zero.
