Apartment Hunting - Any suggestions

Hi,

My family and I are moving to Switzerland in August and we're searching for an apartment - to rent - anywhere within about 20 mins. drive of Villars-sur-Ollon.

Finding letting agencies and property is proving a bit of a headache.

Does anybody have any suggestions where to start?

Any hints or tips will be appreciated.

We're currently living in N. Italy so can pop over for weekends or the odd day to make on the spot searches - but when trying to hunt down agencies and get a feel for the market via the web then the picking seem pretty thin so far.

Thanks

Chris

mata dienst, located at löwenstrasse is an agency looking up flats for you.
you pay 50sfr to get listed and 70% charge of the rent if you take a flat they offering you. maybe your company pays it as relocation cost?
its a lot of money, but they offered me nearly 2flats a day. and some flats listed at the immosites belong to their portfolio anyhow.

we found Krankenkassen Prämien vergleichen, Wohnung und Immobilien finden, Hypotheken Börse. really useful and Map: Switzerland [map.search.ch] is a great map you can zoom right in on and see shops, cafes, facilities etc in the area. there's even a link to transport timetables and so on

good luck with your search

Hi Chris.

Chech out GenevaOnline.ch's MarketPlace > Housing section.

Alot of No Fee apartments listed by people who are moving out.

Good luck with your search.

Oded

Re: Apartment Hunting - Any suggestions

Hi chris,
I`m having similar problem. However have eventually found a short term holiday let in Vaud and persuaded the owner to let it for 6 months to enable me to either buy or rent something else when I get there. many of the holiday owners may consider doing this in resort areas, I have previously had long term rentals ( at least 6 months) in Verbier, Champery and Les diablerets at fair rates. If you google for holiday homes etc Villars you will find loads of properties. I have a friend who is renting a holiday chalet for one year at Les Diablerets for 1 year at very good rates also. Have a look at the websites where you are dealing directly with the owners and not an agency eg .
Location Vacances Espagne Paris Bretagne Corse 90 Pays. Maison Appartement Chambre d'Hotes

Ferienhaus - Ferienwohnung Italien, Spanien, Frankreich, Schweiz, Griechenland, Kroatien und weltweit

ps I did have to negotiate the price but got it down by quite a bit eventually.

I also have a friend who has an agency in Bex, close to Villars. if you want more info pm me.

good luck
jo
