| | Relocation agent - need recommendations Can anyone recommend a good relocation agent (in Zurich)? We are looking for a person that will help us find an apartment. We have been looking for a place for more then 4 months with no success (with the halp of an agent...but we are not pleased with his work) Any tips for the apartment hunt/application process will be happily accepted |

Can highly recommend Anchor Relocation Services http://www.anchor-relocation.ch/pages/team_e.htm
Dominique did an outstanding job for us especially as we weren't in the country when we chose where to live!
Advice: be clear on what you must have vs what you can be flexible on (with preferably more in the latter category ) including location, size, price, modern vs old etc.

So does relocation mean more than finding an apartment? Are these people "Maklers" or something else? And what is the bottom line for something like this? I am just curious.
Our Makler in Munich charged 55% of 1-month's rent for our 5-month stay in a furnished apartment. Are there people with similar rates in Zurich, or do you need gold bars to make it happen?

I can second Richdogs recommendation for Schmid relocation. They made my relocation very easy. They dealt with the whole package in terms of helping with flat hunting, registration for a permit, change of drivers licence etc. I cannot comment on cost as my work paid but I suspect it was not cheap

Here is a post I wrote some time ago. I used OfficePool about 4 yrs ago and liked their work.
-------------------
When I moved to Zurich about 3 yrs ago, I used a firm called Office Pool. They did a great job for me and charged about 1800 CHF for two tours and about 10 places shown, plus the handover inspection, etc. They are at www.officepool.ch
You can find a thread here which discusses: apartment search firms?
or do a search on EF for www.officepool.ch as I think there are several threads over the past few years which have discussed this.
Good luck. The housing market has gotten tougher since I moved here.

Why is no one talking about costs? Is it because an employer is paying so it doesn't matter?

Aargau and commute to Zurich. Rents are lower, as are health insurance premiums. I know an independent relocation consultant in Zürich. Send me a PM if you want the details including fees.

Hello!
We recently relocated from NYC to Zurich with our Family (2 babies) and we used Silver Nest www.silvernest.ch
They were professional, flexible, very Detail oriented and always available. They helped us with the apartment, registration, finding a car and and and...
I can highly recommend them.

Hi Folks,
Can I use them even when not in-country?
I will be in Zurich shortly, but I am leaving my family in Edinburgh until I find a suitable living place?
What is the average time taken by the relocation agents to find a place?
Any help in this regard is greatly appreciated.
Regards,
