Desperate House Single

Hi All, I feel like a desperate case....

I am Italian but I spent the last 5 years in Hong Kong. Last year I relocated to Zürich and my company is in the boonies (Embrach-Embraport). To be close to work I chose to live in Bulach but after a year I am starting to regret my choice.
I have a fantastic, brand new 130 mq apartment but I feel bored to death. It is very difficult to socialize in a village like Bulach. Driving to the city isn't that convenient (traffic, parking etc). I am loosing interest for most of things.... not going to Yoga or to the gym.... no parties....!! Basically...not fun.

Obviously I tried to react and look for apartments in Zürich but it seems to be virtually impossible to find a decent apartment for a good price. My budget is around 2000 CHF and I would need something around 80-90 mq (I really have lots of stuff).

I looked at Homegate and Comparis.ch....but without success. Apparently there are not many apartments in the market. I have the feeling that you get an apartment via "connections"....
Can somebody help me? Any hints?

Cheers
Max

Max! Ciao!

I guess you're saying what a lot won't: small towns can be really chlostrophobic and ...dull, especially after living in a busy place. Come to Zurich, wander around the various neighbourhoods and see which area you like. This saves a lot of time wasting later when you come to apply. Ask your network of friends if they have any tips regarding upcoming apartments for rent. Word of mouth is really important.

Then search through the other threads on the forum to see how others have approached searching beyond the usual methods. Good Luck!

Get on the train. Are you near the station. Can you get the S5 into Zurich?

Start this wednesday. Get yourself down the Cana Bar (see Social Events.) 25 minutes plus a five minute walk and you're there. Last train back at 00:18.

Re: Desperate House Single

Max you should really be able to find an apartment in Zurich for 2000. thats not a bad price at all. Sure it is difficult and sometimes apartments are found through connections but most of my friends and myself included just had to go through the hard graft of going to many different apartments and applying for each one. you will get lucky and find one though. just keep on trying.

Ciao...
possiamo scriverci in italiano?
