Finding the right place to live the first time

When I relocate to Zurich from Oz, my new work office is in Feldmeilin, however colleagues are telling me as a single female I should move closer to Zurich to have a better lifestyle.

I wont buy a car at first so I am thinking somewhere on the train line between the two and preferrably near a gym so I can de-stress because I tend to be a little intense (and wont have any pals at first so need a healthier place than the pub to hang out).

Back to the point, does anyone have any suggestions about a good nook or cranny of an area to live which would be an easy commute by train to Feldmeilin? I'm thinking small apartment 1300-2000 CHF?? I look at Zollikon for example, but it looks big on the map so I'm hoping to get a more specific insight than a postcode if anyone is willing to share?

OK, first sit up and breathe deeply for a minute or so. Not hyperventilate, just deep, rounded breathing.

Now, where ever you live you'll be just fine. Feldmeilen is a perfectly pleasant area. Zollikon is also a quiet and nice place to live. Both places are a quarter of an hour from wherever you want to be in the Zurich area.

...And relax.

You've moved me once already...this could be a good Omen?

I've heard Feldmeilin is a little too relaxing... with few conveniences (such as places to buy food on the weekends). I travel alot so things tend to go off in my fridge...fresh supplies are vital.
