waiting time for apartments Bern

Does anyone know if there is any rule how long should the applicant wait until the owner provides an answer-positiv or negativ ?
I start looking for an apartment at the beggining of Feb. The guy from relocation agengy assured me that for sure we would find something. Based on this I visited Bern at the beggining of March, looked at 6 apartments, 1 with molds on the wall !, I picked 2 to apply. I was told that I have good chances, reccomendation letter from the company, good salary - this is relative !, etc. I was rejected for the first ap the second I gave up as meanwhile my husband changed his mind. Now, I have to rely on temp accomodation ... the only thing I wanted to avoid from the beggining.
In order to decide for how long should I take this temp solution, does anyone know if there is any rule for waiting for the decision .... should I rely on 2 weeks as average?
If the ap is avaiable in July and I apply for it in March should I have the answer in 2 weeks or should waint closer to July??

Thanks to all,
Rox

Re: waiting time for apartments Bern

we were working on a much tighter time frame, looking in Feb for a move in date in April, but we were notified of acceptance the same day we confirmed we wanted the apt. we were told the leasing agent had a lot of discretion, but 2 weeks sounds like more than enough time to me.
good luck.

Re: waiting time for apartments Bern

Thanks, Lucia!

I think we just had bad luck .. I have to start the job of 1st of Apr but still do not know where I am going to live in Bern .... nice relocation service ..

We also initiated the discussions in Feb, but the agent left the impression that things are not so difficult in finding an apartment and is no need to hurry ...
