mailbox damage

Hello,

Something strange happened. We just moved into our new apt a few months ago. A couple of weeks ago, someone has scribbled with a pen on the mailbox. We are convinced it is our old landlord trying to hurt us in some way but we cannot prove it. Is there anything we could do ? Thanks

Re: mailbox damage

An alcohol based cleaner should remove it. Don't use an abrasive cleaner as it could leave scratches.

Take a look here. Was it anything like these. If so, it could be a burglar sign. I'd wash it off as Grumpy suggested ASAP anyway.

Just to add I know the site I've linked to is in Austria, but I've heard it's happening here as well.

Thanks. No someone scribbled our names on it. Most of it is gone with the alcohol based cleaner but we are a bit nervous who it could be.

Did you already have official name plates on your mailbox? If not, maybe it was an over-zealous concierge?

Are your names anywhere else on the mailbox? If not then it was probably just the landlord putting your names there to ensure you receive post. If you don't have your names on the mailbox then you probably won't receive any post.

Edit:- Damn I'm slow today

Probably one of the above - or a maybe a neighbour has been getting your mail and trying to be nice.

We thought so but were told at the post office that generally the concierge or post delivery person generally does not scribble directly on the box..since we moved in with a friend the mail comes in c/o anyway. So we are quite worried who it could be.

Since we moved in with friends the mail comes in c/o the principal tenant. We do plan to get our names on but it takes some time.

Please just put your name on the letter box, even if its just a temporary sticker that's the norm here.
