Living in Lugano

I am having some trouble finding apartments in Lugano that are affordable for me, as well as accept small pets (ie cats). Does anybody have any suggestions?

Re: Living in Lugano

Hi is there any reason why you need to be "in" Lugano itself?
The town is more expensive than the countryside / the smaller towns.

Pets can be an issue, indeed. A former school classmate wasn't even allowed to keep goldfish ....

Not even a goldfish! eek!
I hadn't though about the nearby towns. I'm going to be studying at the conservatory in Lugano so the apartment would have to be somewhat close.

Do you know if many of the apartments post online?

www.homegate.ch and www.immopool.ch you've looked at? www.wgzimmer.ch might also be an option.

are you in the US right now considering the move?

Re: Living in Lugano

Thanks for the links, I'll try those out. I'm in the U.S. currently and I plan on being in the area for school late august-early September.

So, let's see if I get this right.
You're probably not going to be driving and therefore dependent on public transportation? What instrument are you studying (obviously carting your cello around is more complicated than, say a piccolo)?
Are you willing to do some walking?
Do you have an idea of your study plan / timetable?

All things that could help me/us try to point you in the right direction

Re: Living in Lugano

I have a friend trying to lease out his apartment in Canobbio (great bus service to centro and also very close to SUPSI) from July 1st, its a pretty nice place, bright and airy and even has a lake view! 1350 is the rent and there is even a small spare bedroom..PM me for more details...
