Possible to get flat during 1st 3months of employment?

I've heard about the nightmares of finding flats in Zurich so does anyone know if landlords even consider you during the first 3 "probezeit" months of employment? It would be me and my partner looking for a place but he's in his first 3 months as well, he's Swiss though, dunno if that helps??
If not then I can just postpone the stress of looking until those 3months are up...
If anyone's got any experience of this then would be great to hear from you, thanks!

They usually ask for a permit and some form of salary...now even tho this is not required it will increase your chances. so bring one with from wherever you are coming. The more the better.

And from personal experience it seems a bit first come first serve with appartments. Look at newly listed ones and forget about the ones that are more than 1-2 weeks old

Thanks for that. Might just try already then and I suppose questions about length of contract or probezeit might come up afterwards.
Wanted to officially thank you forum style but am a newbie and can't find the right button
Is it maybe wise to get a covering letter from employer basically saying this person will not be sacked in the near future?! Or something along those lines...

My contract also mentions a 3 months probation period, but I guess as most of them would. It's the only one I had and used for any registration, I was never asked about those 3 months even if written at the very beginning of it.

And if im not mistaken they did not ask for a work contract as it is none of their beeswax.... something to possibly consider is to have your husband with the Swiss passport apply. when the day of signing comes ask to put your name on it to.

Re: Possible to get flat during 1st 3months of employment?

If you're worried about your employment status then you could request a "confirmation of employment" letter from your employer, in lieu of a contract, which wouldn't be unusual for Switzerland. This will off course only work if the landlord doesn't call your employer and ask whether you are a permanent employee...

Having a Swiss other half should be a real advantage too, especially if you can get the contract in their name.

I agree with Anthony - it's none of their biz. They only need proof of income and your salary statement(s) will suffice. The rest of their requisitions are just a formality - residence permit, references blah blah blah.

I think you'll be fine unless a landlord wanna go viral on U

Often helps if you are working for a well known employer in the area such as Google Microsoft UBS etc
