Re: Garbage disposal built into the kitchen sink - are they available in Switzerland?

I know some apartments that were recently built in Verbier, power is there & space. The builder said you have to install after the inspection, but everything is ready to make life easy.

Garbage disposals are disgusting. Ew. Anyway:

I'm completely lost...(in re. to the bags!)

I haven't seen a specific Green dumpster for food refuse, but I will keep an eye out. But so then what...do you have 2 diff. trash cans in your apartment? And do you take the food scraps one out every day/night? (Just curious.)
BROWN dumpsters are for composting veggie waste. There is a leaf logo on it. Meat, dairy & egg should not go in those. Just vegs. People buy little green compost boxes where they put the veggie stuff until they can empty them in the brown bins. Veggies go straight from the green box dumped into the brown bins. No bags. You can often see these green boxes on people kitchen window sills.

All you ever wanted to know about trash including the calendar for when large and dangerous items are picked up and more you can find here:
http://www.lausanne.ch/view.asp?domId=64862&language=E

I don't know if Lausanne is now working on the system where you have to buy special bags. It wasn't when I moved out to the country before we moved here. So I don't know what's going on in "the city". If they have those bags or just your regular trash bags, whatever the system is go in the green bins which have a logo of a tied up trash bag on them.

Hello all
we are looking at getting a new kitchen and would love to have an American garbage disposal built in the sink.
Has anyone come across them in Switzerland? Or has anyone brought their own from the the US and installed it themselves?

Thanks
S

It's okay to post here to suggest doing something illegal but when I made a post to criticise the one above which suggested the illegal act, it was deleted by a mod as, in her words, "unnecessary."

Why?
