Non-Modern Furniture Shops in Switzerland?

Hello,

We are rebuilding our home since we were not able to take our furniture with us.

I have been to Interio, IKEA, etc...but my style is a little bit more homey & comfortable. For instance in America I loved Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, Crate & Barrel, Williams Sonoma Home, Wisteria & Anthropologie.

Is there anything like that here? Any part of Switzerland would be OK & I would go into nearby France as well.

I just don't want to fill our place with cheap modern furniture and I can't afford to go to the Paris flea markets to shop.

Thank-you!

Closest store to the types you mentioned that I've been able to find here is Magazin Direkt. I stumbled upon their Freiburg furniture store a while back, and supposedly they have a large store in Lorrach (http://www.magazin-direkt.de/direkt/...id=32&Itemid=2).

I may be able to help you if you would like something custom made. Have a look at www.vicoobjects.com firstly, or I can make similar items with new wood which is a lot cheaper and easier. Pm me for more info or photos.

Jysk? It's real wood and looks a bit more rustic with the mostly Oak used... prices aren't too bad either. http://www.jysk.ch/de/aktuelle-werbu...n-katalog.html

Re: Non-Modern Furniture Shops in Switzerland?

There is this French chain, Interior's, not be confused with Interio.

http://www.interiors.fr

Look on the website for sites in Fr near Basel, otherwise there is at least one swiss store in Etoy (VD).

Yes, but through the Etoy (Suisse) store. Furniture comes fully, or near fully assembled, ie. no IKEA mickey-mousing around with screwdrivers. This however means that they are large and require careful delivery. Living close enough to Etoy, we picked ours up at the store after ordering, as had trailer and it was fairly easy. Otherwise have to order delivery, which was not cheap as I recall.

The shop in Etoy is probably the best one to deal with, giving prices in CHF, and delivery in CHF (not sure about delivery to Zurich though). Visit the store if you are in Suisse romande, as most everything in catalog is available for viewing.

I would agree that it is not cheap, but is anything in CH?

But less expensive than Pfister in my opinion. Hope that puts things in perspective.

Exactly. The French furniture shops have some good traditional furniture, and will deliver very cheaply. Choose one that removes the French sales tax (about 20% ), and adds the Swiss sales tax (8%)
