After going into Babies R Us in the United States, I am convinced that I will go to the USA when I am pregnant and buy ALL the baby stuff over there as it is so much cheaper, and they have way more variety. The only thing is, I will need to transport everything back over to Zurich. Does anyone have any idea what the most cost effective way to do this is, as I cant carry all this on the plane? The items I wish to buy are:

A baby bed
The changing table
Nursing chair with ottoman (MAYBE)
Baby pram (with all the trimmings)
car seat
clothes,and other small tidbit accessories....

Any info would be gratefully accepted...

In my case it was DFW to Zurich, and I just packed everything, went to the local (DFW) Lufthansa Cargo office, droppped off the boxes, and picked them up in Zurich a week later, filled out some custom forms, and marched away happily.

Can you give me a general idea of cost???

Had maybe 15 regular sized moving boxes, paid about USD 1'200, and this was back in 2007. YMMV.

We just had 70 kilos shipped by air from Canada to Zurich for 500 franks.
We used British Airways cargo.

We paid by the kilo, so you should be able to bring lots of baby goods and some furniture. It depends on the weight.

Does anyone know of a cheaper way to ship things by sea?

Anwar - for that size shipment - air is the way to go. Unless you're getting into containers, sea ain't worth it.
