Hiring a Real Estate Agent in Switzerland?

Hello
We are considering selling an apartment in GRB. We are from America and the process in USA is that you hire a realtor, sign a contract with the percentage to realtor (usually 6%) and then the listing realtor gets the whole 6% if they sell it but if another realtor sells it they split the percentage equally. We do not have to have an exclusive right to sell meaning only that realtor can sell it. It then goes on the Multiple listings all over the internet etc.
I may be misinformed, but someone in GRB told me that you must sign an exclusive listing so only that agent can sell it. Is this true? It would seem to limit the exposure quite a bit.
Of course I can ask a realtor but we are not quite ready to put the apartment for sale.
Any suggestions as to the correct approach would be appreciated. I don't mind the percentage but I just want to be sure to get enough exposure.
Thanks

Monica
