Ordering from Ikea online

Hey folks, I'm kitting out my apartment at the moment and went to buy the furniture on-line but going through the checkout they only give the option of paying on delivery. Has anyone done this with them before? How do they take the payment when they deliver?

I'm a bit worried to order as my french is still non existent so would not be able to deal with the delivery folks too much.

Re: Ordering from Ikea online

No worries Admiral, I ordered many bits from Ikea and do not speak much German. The customer services spoke English and it went smoothly when the stuff arrived. Pay cash or use a card.

So it is not a trap!?!

Cool, I think I'll put the order in so! Did you have to wait long for delivery?

Within a week maybe. They'll call you and arrange it.

Ikea cannot repel an order of that magnitude

Re: Ordering from Ikea online

I've had delivery from Ikea a few times here on the French side and not a one of them has spoken English. It's not terribly complicated though - you'll do fine.

It works out at 10% which is not too bad when compared to what conforama charged me.

Re: Ordering from Ikea online

Yeah I found that with alot of the things I was looking at, I can see myself ending up popping out there to pick up some of the smaller things but it would have been handy if they delivered duvets etc instead of having to hand over a kidney in micasa for them.

There is a mimimum charge. A few years ago I was forced to take delivery of an item that was no longer available in the shop but only from central distribution. I would have picked it up there but they said no, I had to take delivery.

There was no assembly.

The goods came to CHF 183.50.
The delivery charge was CHF 95.00

It is not necessarily 10%. That is only zone 1. It depends on how far you live from the nearest Ikea. If it is further than 30 minutes by car, it is 16%. (Zone 2). The maximum charge is 500 chf.

This is from the website.

Re: Ordering from Ikea online

When I went through the check out process the amount for delivery after putting in my postcode was 10% so I think I'm close enough, I'm on the edge of Lausanne on the Ikea side so its pretty close.

Re: Ordering from Ikea online

I was there yesterday to get some small things but would like to buy a sofabed. Online the order said the same price as the sofa price ie delivery included. This can't be right?? Anyone ordered a sofa online with Ikea? Are delivery charges included?

Re: Ordering from Ikea online

Hi,
I was looking at the ordering process for Ikea and I stupidly completed the process - I was waiting to be asked to pay.

Is this it?!?! Can I confirm or cancel the order?
I have no French and through Google translate I understand I will receive an email - can I cancel there?!?!?!

Hoping someone can tell what the next step is!!

Call their customer service, they usually speak English.

Re: Ordering from Ikea online

Hi - just thought I would give a quick update....
I called the helpline on the Ikea website, unfortunately it is automated so I didn't get far.
However, there is another option to send an form to cancel or change an online order.
I have sent this off and I am waiting for a response/confirmation.
Fingers crossed!!

Re: Ordering from Ikea online

Hi All, A quick query on Ikea online shopping. Do they deliver already in assembled form (for example a wardrobe)? Or do they send the parts and that is something I should assemble myself or separately hire their assembly service?

Thanks!

Obviously they don't deliver it assembled as it could either get damaged in transport or more likely not fit through your apartment door. You have to build it yourself or ask them to do it for an extra fee.
