Dear EF green thumbs,

I've scanned garden centers but.. just dont see the bulbs for sale. I do see many tulips, so many that my poor wallet now is much much lighter because of it. I cannot wait for spring!

So, lillies? I am after many different variities so that there is a flowering throughout the late spring - summer - late summer period.

So, planted in late autumn and now they are about ready to flower.

Of the.. 16 that I planted only 8 have shown. The mean cause was some mole or hedgehog that decided to root around in the flower bed once the rest of the garden had frozen over. It rooted up 4 bulbs. What a prick.

Otherwise there is some minor bug infestations that I am manually dealing with. Some red/black bug I see alot of has been going at it hammer and tongs for the last 3 weeks. Their spawn is now eating the lilies.. little white/red larva that cover themselves in their poo.. so they look like black sticky messes eating the lilies.

Seems the sales are starting but there is still a good month of planting left.. unless the weather makes a big change from the gentle Autumn so far.
