Where to find rubber window seals?

Hi all, this is my first post (mainly because the search function has answered all my questions so far!).

I live in an old (traditional, stone) building near the centre of Zurich, which has the typical tall narrow windows with wooden shutters. The windows have been retrofitted with secondary double glazing and rubber draught proofing strips. Unfortunately a couple of the strips have started to perish and need to be replaced. They seem to just push into a channel that runs all the way around the window.

I've checked BauHaus and Jumbo, but they don't seem to stock anything like this (and I'm not sure the staff understood what I was looking for). I've also checked the forum, but maybe have the same problem in describing what I want, because there seems to be no queries about these seals.

Has anyone got any idea where I can get some rubber weather strips? And have I properly explained what I want?

Thanks all!

Re: Where to find rubber window seals?

Take a photo on your mobile phone or camera, and show it to them in a shop, then they should know what you are talking about. That is what I do when I am in a country where I cannot speak the language.

Otherwise, at your own risk, you could cut off a small cross section to show / compare.

I don't know if what you are looking for is a standard product, more likely to be specific to the brand of window.

I think you are looking for "selbstklebende Dichtungsbänder für Fenster". They are sold in any DYI shop. On brand you can look for is "Molto".

Try the internet site of the firm "Oeschger Beschlage"
Here is the rubber profile normaly used, it is Nr. 67.431.02-09.
It is in this system. http://shop.opo.ch/ishop//SortiLog%2...614/list.xhtml
Almost all of the rubber profiles used in Switzerland are shown on this site.
Hope it helps.

This looks like just the thing! Thankyou! Now to spend some time working out which shape is the right one for my windows

Thanks for the other responses too, if this one doesn't work out then they will be very useful!
