Advice required

Hey all,

My sister is busy starting up a rehab centre is South Africa and would like to offer her services overseas.

I was wondering whether anyone knows if Swiss heath insurance firstly pays for rehab and secondly whether they pay for it outside of Switzerland.

Hope this makes sense and thanks for the advice in advance.

Cheers
Ali

Re: Advice required

Basic insurance usually doesn't cover any treatment abroad. However, some add-on insurance tariffs do cover treatment abroad. Having said that Swiss insurance companies are usually open to making a deal if the treatment abroad is cheaper than in Switzerland (which is the case pretty much everywhere except for the US), provided that certain standards are met. This is a case-by-case decision.
Depending on the kind of rehab offered your cousin should also review the accident insurance terms - rehab after injuries due to accidents (work or non-work related) are coverd by that insurance.
The rather long flight after an operation might be a medical problem, though.

Re: Advice required

Is this rehab from addiction or rehab like physiotherapy (as xkcd seems to have inferred)?

I can't help, but a clarification might imrove the answers from elsewhere.
