| Ah! I wonder if anyone can help me with my query on how to get a Swiss equivalent of an EHIC card? I have a B permit for residency in Switzerland and Swiss medical insurance. I was just down in Spain, where I needed to visit a health centre with an ear infection and they asked for my EHIC which I didn't have because I am not currently a resident of the UK, so I cannot apply for one there. So I paid a fee as I have to pay the first 500chfs on my insurance card. The doctor told me that I can now get a Swiss equivalent of an EHIC and free care whilst on holiday in the EU. Is this so? I have searched the web, but cannot find any information. | |

You simply ask your Swiss health insurance for a EHIC card.
If you have the Spanish invoice, you might get the money back, maybe your health insurance, if an accident then maybe employer's accident insurance.
