Yes, of course. You have until the 30th of November to send them your cancellation letter :)

I have some dumb question but thought Id ask them here instead of a new thread.

1) If you got married this year, is it more beneficial to maintain separate insurances or is there a discount for a childless couple.

2) When selecting the franchise for this combined insurance, is the deductible/franchise per person or per policy?

Hi,
I also have a dumb question :p

Before I call my broker has anybody been through this?

I started a 12-month (expensive) treatment that has been fully approved by my Insurance company (100% coverage) so I don't really want to change companies for next year BUT... would this treatment fall under the deductible for next year even if it has been pre-approved?

In this case I would probably be better off with the lowest deductible (500 Sfr). In case the treatment does not count in next year's deductible, I would be better off with the highest deductible (2500 Sfr)

Any idea or experience with this?

Thanks

Didn't anyone ever tell you that there are no dumb questions? :)

The insurance is completely individual so there are no benefits/discounts if you both go with the same company.

The deductible/franchise is also individual and therefore only applies to that specific person.

You don't have to be with the same company, same method or have the same deductible as it is entirely individual.

Family policies as such don't exist. Some companies do offer discounts on the children's supplementary though not all do and it may or may not be worth it for your children to be with the same company as yourself.

Hope this helps :)

Again, there are no dumb questions :)

Yes, the deductible is annual (calender) and therefore if your treatment runs into the new year then you will have your deductible to pay again.

If the treatment is likely to continue into 2012 and is going to cost more than a 1'000.- (for the 2012 part) then you would no doubt be better off reducing your deductible to 300 even.

If I were you, I'd find out what the likelihood is that your treatment would continue next year and change your deductible accordingly.

You have until the 30th of November to change this.

I am with Vivao Sympany and received the notification letter last week advising what 2012 will cost.

VS told my that I have until end of Nov to cancel the classic/basis piece (the main/expensive part) however I cannot cancel the allgemeiner zusatz, hospita and protect pieces (total 31.10/373.20) ... apparently these can only be cancelled before the end of September.

Not happy!

Yes, because the insurance comes in 2 parts - basic and supplementary.

For the basic insurance, you have until the 30th of November.

For the supplementary, it depends on the company but with most it is before the 30th of September.

If your supplementary premiums have increased for next year, you can cancel that too. Though it is more rare that the supplementary premiums increase.

Still not received my new premiums. Is there a deadline for this? Has anyone received from Sanitas yet?

In the above posts it is implied you can only change providers if your premiums increase. Is this true? My Swiss friends say you can always change, as long as done by 30 Nov.

If I do change the compulsory provider, am I still stuck with the bonus coverage due to the 30 Sep deadline?

Thanks.

We haven't got ours yet. I believe they are supposed to send them out by end October.

We just noticed that our lad's DOB is wrong on all the insurance paperwork for our son. They have made him a year younger than he actually is. I hope this won't affect our claims. We have now informed them and it was their mistake so hopefuly it will be OK.

Hope you get some nice pictures later.:D

Yes, for the basic insurance, you can always change as long as it's done by the 30th of November - whether your premiums increase, stay the same or go down.

For the supplementary insurance, depending on which company you're with, then the deadline may very well have been the 30th of September in which case yes, you'll have to keep that where it is for another year unless the premiums for this part of the insurance change, in which case you can cancel that too.

Some people were saying that some companies were going to increase a lot for 2012 because of this and also the "compensation des risques" (risk compensation between companies) but they haven't as a lot of insurance companies have been proactive with their reserves etc. to account for it all.

Rumour has it the DRG business will be having an impact, we will see. Ah the lovely compensation des risques may also be a headache. Well as you say, on verra.
