Did you take a photocopy of your permit before giving it back to the population office to get it renewed?

Also, you shouldn't have to give all of your permit details in order to apply with Assura (or indeed anyone else)? You should be able to provide that information at a later date if needed.

Hope this helps
Thanks for the reply Jenny.

I'm still in possession of my old permit, but the problem is Assura's website asks for an expiry date and since I haven't received my new permit yet I cannot enter it.

I guess I'll just call them up and explain the situation, although I'm not sure if the premium changes depending on whether you do the application online or over the telephone.

Re: Exceptional mid-year health insurance increases with EGK

Iīm alsoing looking for a new insurance company starting from May. Can anyone recommend one? Is Helsana any good? Or are all the companies almost the same?

Btw: sent a registered letter to end my contract with EGK and it cost 5CHF... Thatīs expensive!

But probably not as expensive as the increase!
And it's better to be safe than sorry in these circumstances!

If you're looking for basic insurance only, you should go with one of the lesser expensive companies as the cover is the same under basic insurance anyway.
Differences come in depending on if you use an alternative method of insurance (e.g. GP, TelMed etc.) and reimbursement delays.

Re: Exceptional mid-year health insurance increases with EGK

hello,
another case here, as usual doubling premiums. I found assura in Pully seems OK for basic stuff I need.
Two question - what kind of format should the official letter to EGK be?
And second one - should I go first to Assura, arrange transition and then send this letter?

Re: Exceptional mid-year health insurance increases with EGK

Hi,

We also seem to have got caught up with this. We experienced a 14% increase with the premium at the beginning of 2012, and now another 18% from 1st May. We took up EGK's offer to cancel from 30th April, and are still in the process of finding a new provide for cover from 1st May.

However, we discovered today that my partner is 8 weeks pregnant. EGK will cover until 30th April, but as we have not signed with a new provider, I wonder how we stand with premiums for the next insurance company we sign with? Will they cover us given my partner is already pregnant?

Feels a bit like trying to get car insurance after the accident!

Thanks,

Paul

Re: Exceptional mid-year health insurance increases with EGK

Hey everyone!

I'm with EGK and never received a letter denoting increases, but got this bill which was ABSURD! 100% increase per month, so started looking and see this post (thanks Jenny). Can anyone recommend a broker? I know time is now well and truly ticking, but I refuse to pay 850 a month (for husband and I) and having made zero claims.... Hmmm...

Any suggestions, appreciated. I will look at the links mentioned, but not comparis, as been there done that got the t-shirt...

Cheers!

Nic

Re: Exceptional mid-year health insurance increases with EGK

Hello everyone,

Me and my wife missed out on switching the provider before 31st March. I was quite surprised when I got a bill with 100% increase this month. Is there anything I can do now, or do I need to wait until the end of the year before doing the switch?

Thanks!

Unfortunately, you've missed the boat

The only thing you can do is to cancel it for the 31.12.2012 by sending them a letter by registered mail before the 30.11.2012.

Please note that if you have supplementary too, then you'll need to cancel it before the 30.09.

I have missed the boat too because I was away.
On the Comparis.ch website you can set up a reminder email to be sent to you before the cut off date for changing insurance.
Can't wait to swap companies!
