Any price differences in car insurances

Are there any significant price differences between the most common insurance companies? Feedback appreciated.

Re: Any price differences in car insurances

Experiences from real cases needed. What you get from comparis etc is not the same you necessarily get for example discussing face to face?

Re: Any price differences in car insurances

Yes there are differences which are dependant on many factors. Comparis should be avoided as one cannot compare like for like cover and is not very transparent or impartial.

Add into the equation quality of service, back up service, ease to deal with in the event of a claim, speed of processing, insuring what you actually need and not paying for what you dont etc etc and there you have the differences. Remember; Best can be competitive and sometimes cheapest but cheapest is never best.

Re: Any price differences in car insurances

I am with Helvetia and am very happy with my car insurance.

We have full coverage with a low deductible, and it is about
1400CHF per year for my 2010 Ford Focus.

Re: Any price differences in car insurances

It depends on the car situation. Sometimes, the insurance company will have some binding with the garage. If you buy the insurance company they recommnended, you will get a decent price for the car also.

I am pretty happy with Generali. Nice customer service and quick delivery!

Seems very steep to me. I shudder to think what they would quote for say a 2011 Mazda CX-9..................

Re: Any price differences in car insurances

Thanks for info provided.
Does for example TCS have english versions of their contracts? And are they better or worse pricewise than the big ones AXA and Zurich?

Re: Any price differences in car insurances

Well, I'm with Zurich, @CHF1500 with all the bells and whistles on a 2004 1.9 diesel VW.
I checked the others, and like for like, prices are similar.

One of my bikes is CHF 1800/year, and the only reason it's so low is because I'm at 35%!

(but I only insure it 5 or 6 months/year, so actually pay less than half that)

Out of interest, what did you expect the replies to be?

"Yes, company X is always 20% lower than everybody else in the market for all cases"? If that were true, only company X would exist!

On average for the same kind of companies holding the same kind of insurances eg household, car, life etc - they will earn about the same margin and have about the same risks to cover so on average they will all charge the same - one will not be always cheaper than another.

However, in an attempt to boost the bottom line or to move their risk profile - they will sometimes chase a particular segment, either towards them or away. So you'll get better offers with one than the other for young drivers, old drivers, high mileage drivers etc.

Bottom line - you need to do the legwork and give the specifics

Re: Any price differences in car insurances

AXA is also good. They also provide housing insurance. If you bind them, you can get a decent price too.

Re: Any price differences in car insurances

op this thread is just silly really, are you seriously expecting someone to stock this information Comparis may have use as a price guide, but really age/car/cover/claims history all factor, I'd be willing to bet few would give you doc's in English as they will largely be price driven probably internet based yada, yada, yada.

If you wan't to deal with a person, have the cover explained, and stand any chance of English documents for your criteria... I'm not sure comparis is the tools for you, and unless we have some clairvoyants on here how could anyone guide you.

For my last car, comparis gave Generali as 'the top', I was with Die Mobilar who were actually cheaper but all in German, but Zurich beat them both on price with slightly better cover, and were cheaper with the new car and all my doc's are in English... worked for me would it for you, who knows.
