very quick question about rückforderungsbelege

hi all

so i did a quick search on this on teh googlez and in here and didnt see anything, so apologies if i missed a topic that i was surprised to see wasnt talked about ad nauseum...

my question is about remitting insurance bills.

ive been here several years now and have not had a bill that i didnt think i could pay in one go (most have been no more than 300 ish) then get reimbursed until today, which makes me want to ask this question since im not sure i can eat in 3 weeks if i pay it as is...

when you submit your rückforderungsbelege to your krankenkasse, do they somehow know if youve already paid it? ie, can i submit this to them before i pay the bill, and get "refunded" and then use the refund to take the bite out of the payment? the bill i got was more than half my rent so im kinda wondering how to deal with it.

i suppose if i cant do this i could maybe split it into pieces... but the swiss seem to frown on that like youre some sort of money grubbing, mud person who eats beatles if you do that.

any insight? can i submit it BEFORE i pay, or will that not work somehow? im really not trying to be deceitful or dodgy, just, well, i am from the US and am used to insurance taking the hit BEFORE me, and then me paying the diff, here its the opposite.

grateful for any insight.

greetings,

euer glännsche

Re: very quick question about rückforderungsbelege

You have two possibilities:

1: ask your health insurance to pay the bill, and bill you for your share.

2: ask the medics if you may pay in reasonable installments, which they have to accept.

If it is a hospital bill, then option one is usual.

Re: very quick question about rückforderungsbelege

We always send the bill to the insurance company and get the money in our account before the due date. So that money is in our account to pay the insurance company.
