Motorbike quote: good/bad?

Got me a quote for 885 CHF for insuring a Ducati Diavel on partial casco, with no Swiss no-claims built up (I only moved here in Nov)

Is this good or bad? It's a big wedge of cash...

What is your bonus level? 35% and 885 CHF is worse than 100% and 885 CHF.

Re: Motorbike quote: good/bad?

For full on my 999R, I pay 1800, but since I only insure it 4 months of the year, that means 600, but I'm at 35%.

My SS and ST2 have shared plates, so those are also at 35%, so 800/2 for six months of partial casco.

Only my LeMans is on the road year round, as well as the XV250, but they only have basic (i.e. about CHF 150 or so/year).

I've got a new BMW, cost about 8k less than a standard Diavel with all my options, and I pay roughly 900 for full coverage. Peace of mind for a new rider and all that. ;-)

Where do you get your ducati serviced btw? I need a genuine Ducati shop near Zug or Zurich to get my headlight swapped over, so I can get it imported.

Re: Motorbike quote: good/bad?

I've not had mine serviced here yet, I intend to do it over the border in Germany, as with most things when you live in Schaffhausen. There is a friendly Ducati dealer in Dachsen with an English speaking mechanic, but I don't know about how prices compare. Have you checked if you need to change your headlights? Mine are flat beam projector types that don't have a 'side', or so I hope, will find out in May when the bike goes for inspection!

Yeah, mine are definitely dipped. Not that you can tell that easily when riding - Ducati tradition of sticking in a three candle-power headlight is alive and well in the Diavel.

It shouldn't matter where you got your no claims in your case... when did you take your bike test?

Re: Motorbike quote: good/bad?

I have a 2006 Yamaha FZ1n (the bike in my picture) with only Haftpflicht.
I pay 179chf/yr, insured all year long. I'm with AXA Winterthur at 40% (Level 1).

I guess fully faired supersport bikes are expensive to insure compared to their naked "equivalents".

You do realise that having a spotless "open engined" bike in sunny dry conditions is blasphemy in the eyes of the motorbike gods??? you will be punished, mark my words...(PS The last week weeks of rain was my fault. I cleaned the diavel).

Re: Motorbike quote: good/bad?

Hi,

I pay about 450chf Partial Casco for a 2008 Ducati Monster 696, I started paying that while still on UK plates last August. I then did a definitive import at the tax office in Zurich after the roads thawed in Febuary, and had it inspected a couple of months ago at the Strassenverkersampt.

I did not have to modify the bike at all, the dash is digital and so can be switched to KM via a quick setting and everything else conformed including the headlamp. I did order a European Certificate of Authenticity from Ducati UK (50GBP) and that was critical in the test.

I am now looking for somewhere to service my bike, it needs a basic service and cambelt change, I had a quote from Ducati in the UK 145.00GBP plus VAT and I got a comparible quote from Ducati Dietlikon for 1,500CHF. So needless to say I am also looking over the border. Any tips on where to go are appreciated?!

Re: Motorbike quote: good/bad?

It sounds about right to me. I am at the later end of my 30s, no accidents or claims, 5 years in CH, 35% NCB discount on a 2011 Honda Fireblade at full insurance. That set me back 1242CHF last year at Zurich connect. Still waiting for this year's quote but I am not expecting much change.
