central database of health insurance policies?

hi all,

i changed health insurance companies some months ago, did everything online - bank account number/ praxis etc but never received any further details in paper form. i phoned the company and they have no record of me

my old company says they just accepted i had a new insurance company.

so it looks like i have been without a new policy for quite a while.

is there a database somewhere that my policy "might" be listed?

Re: central database of health insurance policies?

Don't think there is a central database anywhere, but once you give your notice to your current insurance provider you are not necessarily without insurance, as they will continue to cover you until they receive confirmation from your new provider, until such time you are still liable for the premiums to your current provider and they usually don't stop sending you bills until they receive confirmation from the new provider...

Re: central database of health insurance policies?

yep thats the strange thing.. i have not had a bill or letter from any of them.

i was aware of being covered by the previous company until a new policy is in place but it looks like first company has closed my policy and somewhere along the line my "new" company have lost me.

So you were covered ! By the old insurance until they get notified by the new one.

Their would be a place where you could get this information ... in Geneva it is the SAM (Service de l'Assurance Maladie), look what state department is in charge of paying subsidies in your Canton and you found your Database holder.
