Switzerlanded on Health Insurance

Hmm. Just got an unwelcome surprise. The health insurance sent me a new bill for the difference in insurance cost between old gemeinde and new gemeinde in the same kanton.

new monthly insurance is 49% higher than the old one!

Anyone got tips for who is the cheapest health insurance provider in Zurich? I never go to the doctor so will have highest 'excess'?

I saw that Assura has a price similar to my old insurance. The question is, can I change now with a change in address, or must I again wait until the end of the year?

Re: Switzerlanded on Health Insurance

I think you're stuck until theend of the year.

I've always been with Atupri in kanton zh and never had a problem. They are cheap but reputable in my eyes. My wife (swiss) changed to Atupri 2 years ago and ended up paying under half of what she paid before.

Hi

Here is a tip if you are fed up with the system: vote for a change next time the opportunity comes (probably next year) or if you're not swiss try to convince as many people as possible.

This is the only way to get rid of this mess.

Re: Switzerlanded on Health Insurance

would be nice to be able to change mid-year, but what is a bit annoying is that my premiums just went up by almost 50% and i'm not sure if there's anything i can do about it. i can see another provider that charges me around the original monthly premium...

How about going straight to he horses mouth - phone Assura and ask if they can help you with the transfer. Possibly more effective than asking here, lol

I agree. The whole family are with Atupri and we are happy with their service and even more happy with their prices

Re: Switzerlanded on Health Insurance

there is a canton with cheaper health insurance than zurich? wow
when I moved from vaud to zh my premiums went DOWN 33%...somewhere is actually cheaper than here?
I learn something new every day.
i would give your insurance a call though. I had a problem with a couple of months getting charged at the old rate and they (CSS) sorted me out.
