Medical insurance advice for a parttime resident

My Father is Swiss, and is also a resident of the U.S. He is retired and goes back and forth 1-2 times per year. He has full American insurance through Medicare (for retirees) plus private secondary insurance. Recently it was suggested to me that because of his age he should have Swiss insurance too, in case he should get sick during the months he is in Switzerland. I know that he has emergency insurance at the least, and I could increase the American retiree insurance coverage.

Anyone have any suggestions for us? Thank you in advance.
