Disability Insurance - do they cover you for pre-existing conditions ?

Hi,

I have a genetic condition which affects my teeth and jaw. The dentist told me that if I was swiss (or on a C permit) the swiss disability insurance system would cover the cost of the reconstructive work, even though it's Dental/prosthesis/orthodontic work.

Does anyone know if...one day....in about 6 years time...I qualify for a 'C' permit, I would be covered ? Could I begin to have this problem treated under the disability schene - or is it only for people who are born/qualify for citizenship or C permit at birth ?

http://www.ahv-iv.info/andere/00134/..._JjKbNoKSn6A--

In other words, if you are younger than 20, the "IV" will cover the costs.

medizinischen Massnahmen. Die Behandlungskosten werden von der
Kranken- bzw. Unfallversicherung übernommen.

If you are older than 20, the health insurance will cover the costs (albeit with the usual deductibles etc.).

Either way I would check with your health insurance and the appropriate IV-Stelle:

Thanks Mica! That's what I thought too...

Off to the Orthodontist tomorrow for a second opinion on treatment options. Ouch!
