Help - Insurance dilemma

Hi I'm from the UK and I have just moved (1 month) to Geneva for work and am a consultant for 2 NGOs at the UN. I am still waiting for my residency to come through and although I have a temp place to live in in Plainpalais, I am thinking of moving to Prévessin-Moën.

Although I know I will pay taxes to Geneva, can someone tell me whether there are changes in the health insurance requirements if living in France?

I am looking for a super cheap insurance option which I will get when my residency comes through.

Many thanks

Re: Help - Insurance dilemma

Frontaliers are covered in a totally different way from those living in Switzerland and on top of that the rather good cover they currently have is in the process of being "enhanced" by the French. Whilst you're living in Switzerland, you are obliged to take out at least basic health insurance with one of the Swiss insurance companies (Basic health insurance in Switzerland is private but heavily regulated).
By the way "super cheap" doesn't exist in Switzerland for anything.

Dear Catandmouse

Thanks, I am beginning to realise that supercheap isn't in the Swiss vocabulary. I heard that once my residency comes through I willl then have 3 months to find health insurance, but it is different in the Frontiers. Is this correct, and if so, what would the comparison in cost be

thanks

Keep in mind, if you are a frontalier, a different permit is requested/needed. You will have to go through the process all over again if in France.

Thanks I know, not looking forward to the additional bureaucracy!
